Billie Bee
Billie Bee began long before there was ever a story.
She was born in my garden.
As a beekeeper, I spent countless hours watching bees dance from flower to flower. I found myself taking photographs of them, fascinated by the tiny details most people never stop to notice. Those photographs soon became sketches, and before I knew it, one little bee had captured my heart.
That little bee became Billie.
As I watcwatch my own children discover the world around them with such curiosity, I realised there was an opportunity to help all children see bees differently—not as something to fear, but as incredible little creatures with an important job to do.
I wanted to create more than just a children's book. I wanted to create a character that would open the door to conversations about nature, gardens, pollination, kindness and caring for the world around us.
Billie Bee was created to inspire wonder.
